Amazon 6-pagers

Amazon 6-pagers

What are Amazon 6-pagers?

The Amazon 6-pager is a method pioneered by Jeff Bezos at Amazon. The idea is that powerpoint slides and presentations are a waste of time, and that it is better to first express and elaborate the thinking on a topic in writing, and then to begin meetings with participants reading that text, and only after that to have a well-informed discussion.

The exact size and structure of the document is less important than that it covers the thinking done on the most important aspects. The thinking of the method is that to cover those relevant aspects, around 6 pages would be needed.

The Amazon 6-pager is one approach to the Definition step of the product management process. It can be contrasted with the partly similar, but significantly more lean One Page / One Hour method.
