The Challenge

Guidance and alignment

When Joe joined DecisionLink a little over a year ago one of the biggest challenges was the disparate places of their product documentation. There was no consistent or easy-to-find source of record for the projects that were being worked on.

This resulted in alignment issues, extra meetings, and more work for the product team.

Epics and features had been documented on an ad-hoc basis, in either in Google Drive or directly in Jira. Joe started looking for a tool that would help him provide better guidance to his team, make it easier to gain alignment, and tighten up the workflow.

I now have a source of record for any feature I'm putting together. I can share that with our marketing team, development team, engineering team, and everyone is on the same page.

The Solution

Everything in one place

Each roadmap item has one source of reference, and that is the corresponding Delibr document. The Delibr document includes all the relevant details, such as the objective, functional and non-functional requirements, reference designs, and things like marketing rollout plans.

Joe and his team are also creating roadmaps that they share with stakeholders in Delibr. Via the roadmap, anyone can dive into the details laid out in the documents.

Using boards to put together roadmaps and having it all in one place makes my life so much easier. Especially when it's time to share with our stakeholders. In one place I'm able to go in and show the roadmap and I'm able to jump right into a document that needs to be reviewed.

Communication and collaboration

The DecisionLink team has been using the question and decision trees in Delibr to make decisions directly in their working documents. They outline important questions, share them with stakeholders for feedback, and log the decisions as they go through refinement.

The last time I used the question feature within Delibr I was looking to make a decision around entry points for a new feature. I was able to use the multiple-choice question to lay out all the possible entry points and I sent it to my manager and one of our team leads to get buy-in. They were able to come into the document and give their input to help make the decision.

The Result

Everyone on the same page, literally.
The biggest result has been less confusion among all teams. Technical and non-technical stakeholders are now on the same page which has reduced the number of meetings needed. Delibr has become the central mission place for the DecisionLink product team.

The biggest result has been less confusion from all teams. Everyone outside of the product is on the same page and so there's been less meetings that are needed.
